Dress Code

Healthy Learning Academy is committed to a drug and violence free environment. All violent images and pictures that represent violence are inappropriate at school. HLA requests that clothes, shoes, backpacks, lunch boxes, and notebooks be free of violent images. HLA works to develop in its students a sense of responsibility, respect, and concern for all people, all other living things, and property. HLA also works to help children resolve conflicts peacefully with words. Violence is unacceptable and is not tolerated. Sneakers are required. Clothing should be comfortable for outdoor activity.

Volunteers

Children are most likely to be successful in school when parents are committed to their education. Our charter school program is based on a cooperative type of learning that will involve a family and community spirit. Therefore, commitment to the School’s mission and educational philosophy will manifest itself in the signing of the Parent Agreement, which will include a requirement of at least 20 hours of participation per year from each family. A volunteer survey will be distributed in the first weeks of school to find out your areas of interest and expertise. We want to make it easy for you to fulfill your volunteer commitment and will provide a variety of opportunities.

Educational Program/Curriculum

Healthy Learning Academy uses a hands-on developmental educational program that melds physical fitness, sport, and exercise into the daily curriculum. The school will use the following instructional programs:

  • Benchmark Advanced, SRA, literature circles, non-fiction text resources
  • Go Math
